5 Most Fierce UFC Bouts of All Time

Social media platforms aren’t my getaway from boredom. Instead, I head out to sports channels or online platforms to watch UFC bouts. I’ve always been a big fan of UFC as it’s my ultimate source of entertainment.

I feel like I haven’t missed any major UFC events since college. Be it Khabib’s prowess over Conor or Tyson’s embarrassment at the hands of Jake Paul, I’ve watched them all. However, as a true UFC fan, I believe the real entertainment starts when fights get fierce.

Pre and post-match drama have diminished with time, and we rarely get to see an actual blood bath inside the octagon. In short, there’s rarely an all-out war between the athletes, which we frequently witnessed in the past.

Having said that, if you want to witness some fierce UFC fights from the past, you’ve come to the right place. So, let’s start!

Tallison Teixeira vs. Arthur Lopes

Teixeira vs. Lopes was one of the most entertaining matches I’ve seen in recent times. Both Brazilian fighters came face to face in the Contender Series and hoped to bag a UFC contract. Well, Lopes was already considered a huge underdog by most UFC pundits.

Simply because Teixeira stepped into the octagon as the unbeaten fighter with more weight, height, and reach than his opponent. As expected, Teixeira didn’t take more than two minutes to knock out his opponent with a right jab and won the much-deserved UFC contract.

Having said that, Teixeira is set to appear against Derrick Lewis, who’s a formidable force inside the octagon.

Also, I’ve already made some arrangements to witness this bout on ESPN by bundling my internet with TV via Spectrum Deals. Lastly, beating Lewis is going to be a major challenge for Teixeira, who, I believe, will give his all to defend his winning streak.

Robbie Lawler vs. Rory MacDonald

Lawler vs. MacDonald is one of the most memorable bouts for me, as I caught the live-action inside the arena. I was a kid back then and went with my father. And seeing fighters ripping each other apart in front of my eyes shook me to the core.

The two fighters went to war for the UFC Welterweight Championship. The bout lasted for five rounds when Lawler finally knocked out MacDonald. But by the end of the fight, the octagon, including both fighters, wasn’t a pretty sight.

With blood all over the place, it seemed more like a crime scene than an octagon. Also, I was surprised to see the restraint the doctor and referee showed as they didn’t stop the fight, even after both fighters were badly injured.

Sean Strickland vs. Dricus Du Plessis

It’s a fact that rematches between fighters who have bad blood between them are more entertaining.

Same was the case with Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis. The two fighters first met in UFC 297 as Du Plessis came out victorious with the jury’s decision.

Then, they again met in UFC 314, and this time, the stakes were high. Strickland wanted to avenge his previous humiliation, while Du Plessis wanted to assert his domination. This fight also lasted for the whole five rounds, with Du Plessis failing to knock out his opponent, even after breaking his nose.

Even though Du Plessis again won with the jury’s decision, it was Strickland who impressed the most people and UFC pundits. His resilient and brave effort to prolong the fight after being heavily injured showcased his fighting character, for sure.

Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor

How can I miss this epic fight between two of the greatest athletes who embraced this sport? Personally, I never liked the “notorious” Conor McGregor for his big mouth. And with Khabib, he didn’t stop.

He humiliated Khabib, his crew, his country, his religion, and whatnot! And, seeing McGregor tapping as he was getting choked was a treat to my eyes. Khabib made sure to settle the debate once and for all, that he was more agile, fit, and overall, a better athlete than McGregor.

Having said that, jumping off the octagon onto Conor’s side wasn’t really necessary. However, it surely added more drama to an already hyped match that had everyone hooked to their screens. All in all, it was one of the best UFC matches I’ve ever seen, and I would pay top dollar to watch them fight again inside the octagon.

Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz

As you know by now, I don’t like Conor, but there’s no denying that only a few could hand him a defeat when he was at his peak. And, among those few ones was Nate Diaz, who surprised the Irishman a few months ago, before meeting again in UFC 202.

The stakes were high as Conor was determined to take brutal revenge. In the first match, Nate Diaz knocked out McGregor in the second round. And, most fans believed that the rematch would produce, more or less, similar results, with very bleak chances of the jury’s involvement in the final results.

However, to everyone’s surprise, both fighters lasted the whole fight, but Conor had successfully knocked down Diaz thrice in the match. As a result, the jury was naturally tilted to hand over the win to McGregor, and he finally succeeded in avenging his defeat.

For the faint-hearted, I won’t recommend watching the Robbie Lawler vs. Rory MacDonald and Sean Strickland vs. Dricus Du Plessis fights.

Let me tell you something about these fights before I wind up.

These were more of a war than fights, and some of the bloodiest fights I’ve ever witnessed. The bruised faces with blood gushing out of cuts weren’t a pretty sight, so beware if you’re faint-hearted. Otherwise, these matches were sheer entertainment and a class apart, with a lot of memorable moments.
